5 out of 5 stars ClearJel great for making canned pie filling   August 18, 2010

This product is great for canning homemade pie fillings. It is reasonably priced and enough to do several batches of pie filling. Great product to have on hand!!

I have used Clear Jel to make canned blueberry pie filling and canned strawberry rhubarb pie filling. Both turned out very well. I followed the blueberry pie filling recipe provided in the product packaging and was initially skeptical because the sugar/water/Clear Jel mixture was VERY thick (think glue), but tonight I made a pie with a jar that didn't seal and it was delicious, not too thick as I had feared. The whole family gave it rave reviews. I have found that a one pound package of Clear Jel makes 12 quarts of canned filling. I have already used 2 bags and need to order more.

I ordered this two days ago when I saw a limited time sale on peaches at my grocery store. Today was the last day of the peach sale and so I bought some really firm ones, thinking that it would take at least another week to get my ClearJel in. When I got home though, there it was waiting for me! The packaging was just fine for me, I think they must have changed the way they package because mine came in a box.

Thanks Kitchen Krafts!

4 out of 5 stars Could use better packaging   June 19, 2010

I bought this and it was shipped quickly. I bought 2 and they were put into a plastic bag and then into a Priority Mail flat rate ENVELOPE. Both bags broke open on their rough trip and the plastic bag holding the 2 other bags ripped open on the top too (but the PM envelope didn't) and it was a nice powdery mess. Luckily I didn't loose much, but seller should try and do a better job with original packaging so it won't bust open in transit.

I cannot rate this product - because I never received it - only received an empty , torn up envelope.

The post office delivered an empty package with a note - saying the enclosed was found loose in the mail or has been damaged in handling in the Postal Service... they were sorry -
I am seeking repayment from the Post Office - but am not hopeful.

They gave me a note that read: "when a post office handles in excess of three million pieces of mail daily it is imperative that automated and mechanical methods be used to maintain production and insure prompt delivery of the mails. It is also an atuality that modern production methods do not permit personal attention to indiviual pieces of mail and damage can officur if maile is insecurely enveloped or bulky contents are enclosed. When this occurs and our machinery is jammed, it often causes damage to other mail that was properly prepared. We are constantly striving to improve our processing mehtods to assure that an occurrence such as the enclosed can be eliminated. We appreciate your concern over the handling of your mail and sincerely regret the inconvenience you have exprerienced."

They will not commit to being responsible for my "LOSS" - so, I assume that I LOST MY MONEY AS WELL.

So, the package was empty (because it was so damaged in the mail) and I can't seem to get my money back.

Regards,
Marilyn
